Housed in the former residence of distinguished writer-critic Munin Barkotoki and noted politician and social worker Renuka Devi Barkataki, ADDAGHAR is a happy and holistic meeting place for seniors at a central location in Guwahati, with ample parking space and easily accessible by public transport. Members can come here to simply sit and read the newspapers over a cup of tea or coffee, meet old friends and make new ones, get their BP and sugar checked, go out for a play or for a lecture together, discuss problems and ideas with experts, join meditation classes, ask for help with mastering new technology, watch films or take a lead in organizing a cooking class or a book reading club.
Making A Difference
Run on a membership basis by the GUWAHATI JYESTHA SAMAJ, Panchabati, ADDAGHAR will have provision for a wall magazine, newspapers and periodicals, board and card games; it will offer courses on physical and mental health from time to time. Clubs catering to various interests of the members will also be organised. At least one special activity -- such as going out to see a film or exhibition or inviting experts in different fields to interact with members -- will be organised every month. New activities will be added depending on the interests of the members.

Eligibility for membership
Any senior citizen living in and around Guwahati who agrees to abide by the rules and regulations of the ADDAGHAR is eligible to be a member, when recommended by a member of the Guwahati Jyestha Samaj or by an existing member of ADDAGHAR.
Annual Membership Fees:
Rs. 5000, if paid in one instalment
Rs. 3000 x 2, if paid in 2 instalments
Inauguration on 1 March 2019.
Registration started from February 2019.
Those who register (for one year) on or before 31st March 2019 will be considered as Founding members and will have their annual subscription valid till 1st April 2020.
Husband and wife senior citizen couples who register together will be entitled to a 10% discount on their membership fees.
Non-members will be allowed to accompany members as guests at most three times
Free use of the ADDAGHAR premises & materials such as newspapers, magazines and games;
Participation in various weekly clubs;
Periodic consultations with doctors, lawyers, physiotherapists, counselors and other experts;
Periodic body weight / Blood Pressure/ Blood Sugar checks;
Use of the Café in the premises on payment;
Platform to display the talents of members through organising exhibitions and performances;
Free information and eligibility to participate in all activities offered by ADDAGHAR (some activities might require additional payment); for instance: One outing per month ; One lecture / interaction per month;
Interaction with other like-minded organisations.
